Angry customers yesterday besieged Zenith bank branch in Ijaiye Ojokoro, Lagos, demanding their money following operations shutdown which started over two days ago.
According to Daily Independent, most of the customers who besieged the bank wore forlone and had only one major mission: To transfer their money out of the bank.
One of the angry customers was heard lamenting “My family nearly went hungry yesterday because of this issue,” he lamented.
“We looked everywhere to use my ATM card but to no avail and this has been the case for the past two days.
“Every POS we went to turned us back; then I tried everything possible to transfer to other banks but the app and and the USSD was not working.
“It was very frustrating yesterday and I am here to go straight into the bank to transfer my money to other banks,” he said.
Another lady was also heard lamenting “My husband transferred money to my Zenith Bank account since yesterday money and that was for our feeding but as I am talking now, I have t seen the money,”
However an officer of the bank later came out to address the angry customers, telling them that the operational outage was not intentional as a bank-wide system upgrade was currently going on and that normal services will be restored as soon as possible.
“The plan is not to suffer any customer because we value our customers above any other thing,” he said.
“You are experiencing this because we want to ensure that there won’t be any consistent operational shutdown anymore.
“We are consolidating our operations in order to serve you better and we ask for your patience please,”
