End Bad Governance: Protesters take over Nyanya-Mararba Road

On Thursday morning, the Nyanya axis  in the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) and the neighboring Mararaba town in Nasarawa State were thrown into turmoil due to a protest against bad governance by some citizens.

Thousands of demonstrators, wielding dangerous weapons, stones, and placards with various inscriptions, confronted the security personnel positioned at key locations. The protesters took control of the heavily guarded major Abuja-Keffi Highway, disrupting vehicular and pedestrian movement.

Business activities came to a halt as protesters occupied the streets and main roads. Despite a strong presence of security personnel, including the Nigerian military, police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and local vigilantes, the protesters managed to overpower them.

All banks in the area were securely locked, and market vendors and shop owners who had arrived to conduct their daily business hurriedly shut their shops to prevent looting by the protesters.

Although soldiers patrolled the areas and fired shots into the air to disperse the protesters, their actions did not deter the demonstrators.
