Removal Of VAT On Diesel, Cooking Gas: PTD Hails Federal Government.

The National leadership of Pe­troleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) Branch of NUPENG has hailed the federal government for re­moving Value Added Tax (VAT) on key energy products and infra­structure, the products that VAT will no longer be paid on include diesel, feed gas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas, Compressed Natural Gas, electric vehicles, Liquefied Natural Gas infrastructure, and clean cooking equipment.

The union went further to implore the government to also look into operational and logistical challenges hindering the lifting, supply and distribution of petro­leum products across the length and breadth of the country.

In a joint statement signed by the union leaders and made available to the press on Thursday 3rd October 2024, The prseident of tanker drivers association Comrade Lucky Osesua, his two National Deputies, Comrade Yusuf Dayy­abu Garga, Comrade (Chief) Peter Moudebelu (Onwa) and the Na­tional secretary, Comrade Humble Obinna Power.

The Union emphasized that the Tax Holiday was the best gift the Federal Government could give vulnerable Nigerians at this time and pledged to always support Government initiatives and policies that will positively impact the lives of the people, support the local content creation and mitigate the sufferings of the people.

The statement reads: “PTD wishes to commend the federal government’s decision to suspend the VAT on key energy products and infrastructure, including die­sel, feed gas, Liquefied Petroleum Gas, Compressed Natural Gas, electric vehicles, Liquefied Natu­ral Gas infrastructure, and clean cooking equipment. Frankly this is the best 64th independence an­niversary gift to the vulnerable segments of the Nigerian society.
